graduation

Graduation is such an exciting time, the culmination of your years of hard work and dedication. Here are the steps to make sure your graduation process goes as smoothly as possible:

  1. Visit Your Advisor: See your academic advisor every semester to be sure you are staying on track to graduate.
  2. Check DegreeWorks: Make sure your curriculum in DegreeWorks includes all of your majors, minors, and /or specializations/concentrations. If it is not in DegreeWorks, it will not be on your transcript.
  3. Submit Your Application: One to two semesters before you plan to graduate, submit your degree application on the Student tab of your myBama. You need to apply to graduate whether or not you intend to participate in commencement.
  4. Get Approved: When your graduation application has been submitted and you are registered for your last semester of classes, the Culverhouse Registrar will audit your academic record. Check your Crimson email for communications regarding your application.
  5. Check Your Email: Once your application is approved, check your email for additional communication from your college and the university. You don’t want to miss something important because you didn’t check your email.
  6. Get Graduation Information: Visit ua.edu/commencement for all the ceremony details like the schedule of events, travel information, and where to park.
  7. Check the Transfer Deadline: If you have any classes from your final semester that need to be transferred from another institution, check the Academic Calendar for the transfer credit deadline.
  8. Get Your Diploma: Look for your diploma to arrive in the mail approximately six weeks after the commencement ceremony. Congratulations!
