About the Diversity in Business Bridge Program

The Diversity in Business Bridge Program (DBBP) provides additional college preparation, specifically focusing on business as a major/career, promoting postsecondary success for underrepresented minority students by helping them make a smoother transition to college. Dedicated college financial support will be available to program graduates who enroll at UA to pursue a degree in business.

The 2024 DBBP will be held on The University of Alabama campus on June 23-29, 2024.

The Bridge Program gives students interested in business fields the opportunity to gain professional development, attain skills needed for success in college, enhance their critical thinking skills, and be introduced to functional business areas (e.g., marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship).

Additionally, students will learn how to set goals and understand financial literacy to become more personally, fiscally, and socially responsible in life and within companies.

Students will learn from the world-renowned Culverhouse College of Business faculty. After successfully completing the program, students admitted to the University of Alabama will be eligible for financial support at The Culverhouse College of Business.

Thanks to Protective Life Corporation for their support, which has made this program possible.

Purpose

The Diversity in Business Bridge Program is designed to prepare students for the transition to college and support postsecondary success for underrepresented students by providing academic, social, and professional skills essential to be successful in business majors in college. Students will prepare for academic and social success by engaging in sessions about various business areas such as operations management and economics and in experiential activities. Moreover, students will be able to experience campus life and build social and professional networks with other students, faculty, staff, and business professionals.

Who’s Eligible?

Students who are rising seniors from Alabama high schools can apply to the program. The Diversity in Business Bridge Program is designed for Alabama students from historically marginalized groups who are underrepresented in business (i.e., African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American) and are interested in learning about a career in business.

When Will It Start?

The program will be held on campus, with housing and food provided, on  June 23-29, 2024. Any UA and Culverhouse safety guidelines and protocols will be followed.
